About the

Formula

The Power of 5

Although mushroom species are highly unique, varying in their individual constituents and benefits, one thing stays the same across the board: they are all immensely supportive to immune health. This is further compounded when you utilize a diverse blend of mushrooms, as the variety of metabolites tend to work with and complement one another.

For this reason, Immune Shroom features a blend of five different medicinal mushrooms. Cordyceps shines when it comes to energy support and healthy stamina, especially in athletes and active individuals, whereas Reishi provides heart, mood, microbiome and digestive support. Shiitake aids immune modulation, and one of the most coveted species, Turkey Tail, supports liver health and detoxification. The power lies in the blend, providing you with a little help from each one along the way.*

  • Regulation, not just activation

When it comes to the big picture, mushrooms do not necessarily “boost” the immune system, but rather support a balanced response as they promote healthy regulation of the immune cells including balanced T helper cells.

The goal of utilizing mushrooms, with their gentle intelligence, is to support immune modulation by bringing the immune system into normal balance and homeostasis, no matter which side of the coin you’re on. These brilliant life forms support the body’s normal production of Regulatory T cells (Tregs), which encourages responsive, yet stabilized immune health.*

  • An adaptogenic bonus

While mushrooms are famous for immune health, they’re also considered adaptogens in the herbal world. There are two parts to this word: “adapt” (which means to change your behavior or to change something so that it functions better) and “gen” (a substance that generates).

Adaptogens essentially help us generate a greater sense of internal resilience in order to adapt to the stress in our lives in a healthy way. In my teacher Richard’s words, “Adaptogens increase non-specific resistance to stressors and help reestablish our intrinsic physical, mental, and emotional adaptive capacity.” They support normal regulation of the HPA (hypothalamus, pituitary, adrenal) axis in order to promote nervous system, immune, and hormone health.

As adaptogens, mushrooms also help to increase and build our “Qi” or “vital energy,” and can therefore support us when looking to maintain strength after feeling run down during immune season. They not only shine for active immune health, but for post-immune health and recovery, too.*

The story
behind the formula

Mushrooms are more than just a supplement to me; they’re a functional, nourishing food source that can warm and support us during even the coldest months.

The first mushroom I fell in love with was Reishi, considered a Qi and Blood tonic in Traditional Chinese Medicine that can support the feeling of depletion in the gentlest of ways. Reishi takes her time, and teaches us to do the same. What makes her so unique is that it helps to calm the heart-mind (known as Shen in TCM), which supports us on a soul level when our spirits are weak and tired. This formula is a culmination of my favorite mushroom allies that support us deeply when we need them most.*
