Gut-Healing Elderberry Gummies

Homemade gummies are an incredible way to deliver nutrition and herbal impact to kids and adults alike. These gummies are crafted with our Guardian Tea and Elderberry Immune Elixir and are intended to be consumed during the onset of colds or preventatively to boost immunity while delivering a health dose of gut nourishing amino acids. These gummies are unsweetened to make them that much more medicinal, but feel free to add a touch of raw honey to jazz them up a bit!

The key ingredient in these gummies to give it that jello texture is gelatin. While not a complete protein, gelatin is an excellent source of amino acids and full of gut/skin supporting benefits that we could all use more of when under the weather. Gelatin provides amino acids like glycine that strengthen the gut lining while helping to lower inflammation.

This delicious recipe is brought to us by Alexandra Rosenberg-Rigutto. Alexandra is a farmer, educator, and homesteader living in the Great Lakes Basin. Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp Guardian Tea
  • 1-2 tbsp Elderberry Elixir
  • 3 cups of water
  • Juice of one orange
  • 3 tbsp grass fed gelatin
  • Pinch of mineral salt

Method:

  • In a saucepan or kettle, bring 2 tbsp Guardian Tea to a simmer in 3 cups of water. Allow to decoct (simmer) for at least 45 minutes
  • strain the decoction into a bowl and allow it to cool
  • add 1-2 tbsp Elderberry Elixir, juice of one orange, and pinch of salt and stir to combine
  • return the mix to a clean saucepan and sprinkle 3 tbsp gelatin over the surface of the liquid
  • allow the gelatin to “bloom” and absorb liquid for 3-5 minutes
  • return the pot to low heat, allow the liquid to warm, and gently stir the mixture to incorporate the gelatin. Add optional sweetener and stir.
  • pour the mixture into a heatproof glass dish or into silicone molds of choice and refrigerate for 5-6 hours or overnight
  • slice the gummies into squares or pop out of molds and enjoy a few per day

These will last up to 5 days in a closed container in the fridge! Enjoy.

Summary

Crafting homemade gummies with immune-supportive herbs like Guardian Tea and Elderberry Elixir not only offers a targeted boost during cold season but also delivers gut-healing amino acids through gelatin. By simmering a medicinal tea decoction and combining it with gelatin’s glycine-rich profile, these gummies provide both immunity and gut lining support in a kid-friendly, sugar-optional form.
